1 John 1:8-10
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
Being 'more than a conqueror' does not guarantee freedom from making mistakes or sins. The key words are "if we confess our sins" - we receive forgiveness and get purified. Though we must be totally committed to living for God, we must not forget there's a provision for us when we sin.We may lose a fight with Satan but not lose the battle. We may even lose a battle but not lose the war.
There's a difference between a sheep and a pig when they fall into a mud hole. The sheep will bleat and bleat till it's pulled out.But when the pig falls into the mud hole, he loves it and wallows in it forever. When we fall into sin, do we sink deeper into the mud by not confessing or are we crying out to the shepherd.
