Whom should I serve?

Luke 17:7-10
7 "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'?
8 Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'?
9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?
10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'"

In the past all the great men like Moses, Joshua, Judges, Gideon, Samuel, David served God by taking care of people. As disciples, we need to serve God and God only. In our midst of service, we forget God and more focused on men. Our attitude after serving must be 'I just did my duty to God'. Why do we do what we do? Is it for God or for people?

Sometimes we used to do things to impress people not to serve God. We serve to get good name from our leader. We wanted everyone to appreciate us.

We need to ask ourselves a question why do I do the things that I am doing?

We all can easily been blinded by different things in the world. We need to have pure motivation in serving God and helping His people. We should not be serving to get reward to please people around but to please God. Let no fear controls or no men controls but God and His scriptures.

How should I serve?

We as disciples need to serve with all our heart.

Mark 6:30-42
30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.
31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.
33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.
34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. "This is a remote place," they said, "and it's already very late.
36 Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat."
37 But he answered, "You give them something to eat." They said to him, "That would take eight months of a man's wages ! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?"
38 "How many loaves do you have?" he asked. "Go and see." When they found out, they said, "Five--and two fish."
39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.
40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties.
41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.
42 They all ate and were satisfied,

We need to serve like Jesus. Though he was very tired at the end of His day, when he saw the crowd he was filled with compassion and met the needs of people both physical and spiritual.

I know we work hard everyday. It is tough but let us imitate Christ in this area of Compassion and Love. He saw them as sheep without shepherd.

Revelation 2:19
I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

God acknowledge this church in their service to people. We need to serve with gratitude. Let us keep up our good work and await for another blessing from God.
