Story of Mamta
Friday, September 03, 2010

Teens in India, especially girls, face tremendous obstacles when they try to make their own decisions. Choosing to follow Christ is one of those tough times when these young women have to stand up for their convictions and face odds a lot of sisters in the Western world cannot relate to.

When Mamta was younger her family was members of the New Delhi church. As time went on her parents drifted from their faith and got involved in a lot of sin. Mamta had enjoyed years of fun, friendship, and fellowship with other children in the church. Even though she was young she did not want to let go of those relationships.

Story of Jayashree
Friday, August 27, 2010

Ps 67:1-3 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.

Jayashree is a disciple in Pune Church for more than 3 years. Her husband is a priest of other religion. Inspite of all oppositions she stood firm for her faith in Jesus. It so happened this year that her dad Babu Shinde became very ill. He lives in a village about 100 kms away from Pune. He was admitted at a hospital in Pune. Jayashree asked the disciples to pray for her dad. The disciples asked her to share her life and enquire of her dad if he would be interested in studying the Bible. Her father and family earn their living by singing bhajans and do a lot of rituals for the people in his village like a priest.

Her father got encouraged to hear how God had worked in his daughter's life. He said he too wanted to meet the brothers of the church and that he would not eat any food till the brothers came. The brothers went and started studying with him in the hospital. Later Babu Shinde got discharged from the hospital as the hospital felt they could no longer help him. The brothers went to the village and continued studying the Bible with Babu uncle. Babu Shinde accepted Jesus as Lord of his Life, confessed his sins and was ready to get baptised. Jayashree and other disciples went to the village and got Babu Shinde baptised.

Jayshree's son Rohit and daughter Swati both teen-agers are regular at church. Rohit is invloved in all the church activities and is eager to be a disciple as well. We praise God as only He can work in such amazing ways to change the lives of anyone in any situation!

Story of Paul Uncle
Friday, August 27, 2010

Paul Uncle got baptised on the 20th of June 2010. He is the father of Jessy Jadhav. Jessy and her husband Bipin had become disciples in Pune more than 12 years ago. Today they lead a growing family group at Pune. Over the years Jessy had been fasting and praying for someone in her family to start changing to become a disciple.

In May 2010 her father finally decided to come to church. Not only that, he decided to start studying the Bible. Paul Uncle had been illiterate through most of his life. Jessy guided her father to read by teaching him the Hindi alphabets.S oon uncle began to read and would spend the whole day reading the Bible. The disciples started teaching him further and he understood his lostness and decided to become a disciple and got baptised. His relatives were all amazed that he could start reading so late in life. To God be the glory.

Story of Jennifer
Friday, August 13, 2010

Jennifer from Bhadravati was diagnosed with Cancerous Tumor in the brain and was brought to Nimhans Bangalore. Her relative who is a disciple in Mumbai Church informed us about this and requested us to reach out to her. Since then many disciples from Lakkasadra family group reached out to her and after the surgery she attended Sunday services. After going back home she lost her SIM card and so lost contact with disciples here. But the disciples were praying for her to be saved.

One fine day, her husband called up and requested someone to visit her and study the Bible with her because she wanted to get baptized. Knowing the urgency, many disciples left to Madikeri and studied the Bible with her. Christians were amazed as she wanted to confess her sins infront of all her relatives. The very same day (12th June) she got baptized!

On 13th July, sisters who went for the staff retreat to Madikeri visited her and prayed with her. She was not able to see or talk but expressed that she could recognize them. Next day she went home to be with the Lord. She has two young children. One of the desires she had before death was that her children should grow up in fear of God. Amazingly HOPE orphanage in Trichy decided to help her by taking care of them from now on.

Please click here to see the video of her baptism.
