A wonderful sister in Christ was among the victims killed in the tragic shooting in a classroom at Northern Illionis University in DeKalb, Illionis. On Valentine's Day, Thursday, February 14, a lone gunman killed 5 students and wounded 21 others before turning the gun on himself in a class of about 160 in a large lecture hall.

Encounter with a Snake! - Stuff of which nightmares are made, right? Well. it happened to our sister Sheeba from the Cochin Church who took a break from the happenings in SALC to visit the washroom. To her horror she found (after locking the door) that she was in eyeball contact with a long snake that had nestled along the hinge side of the door.

December Highlights include
The Avadi Sector's Xmas Day Out – One of the sisters in the Avadi Sector is warden of an Orphanage near Thirunindravur which caters to a 100 girl children ranging from age 18 months to 19 years. On Dec 25 th , around 50 brothers and sisters descended on the Orphanage determined to provide a good time to the inmates and build up a relationship with them.

Carnival 2008 - Chennai

The Annual Carnival only seems to get better and better every year. The proceeds from the Carnival usually goes to funding Missions and so disciples throw themselves wholeheartedly into organising individual or Family Group stalls. The venue was Anna Arangam off Poonamallee High Road and the date January 6, '08.

Bangalore Church organises Carnival - On December 9th, the Bangaloonies had a hugely successful Carnival and crossed their goal of Rs 600,000 . There'll be more about this on their website but here's a story of one disciple's commitment to the cause. Muthu, brother of Manju who moved to Chennai (Avadi), raised a whopping Rs 100,000 on his own through sponsorships! The amazing part is that this amount did not come from a few big sponsors but from many, many small donors, from shopkeepers, friends and others. It came by 10s and 50s and 100s.

From Thousand Lights to Little France

The Thousand Lights Zone (Single sisters and JV Aunties) made a trip to little France ( as Pondicherry is known) for three days (Dec 7,8,9). This was a rare trip outside Chennai for many of us ( old and young) so there had been much anticipation and expectation over the last two months. The plan was made based on a shoestring budget but God provided us a great time, unexpectedly, through the generosity of other disciples.
